Audio Import
Import audio or video recordings by drag-and-drop or file picker, then follow transcription from the Jobs tray.
At a glance
Import existing recordings by dragging a file onto Meetily or using Import Audio. Meetily supports 10 audio and video formats up to 20 GB, and never modifies your original file.
Audio Import
Already have a recorded meeting on your computer? Import it to create a searchable, editable transcript without recording it again.
You can drag a file onto the Meetily window or select Import Audio from the main window.
Quick Start
Drag an audio or video file onto Meetily, or select Import Audio.
Review the detected filename, duration, file size, and format, then enter a meeting title.
Select Import. The import is submitted as a job.
Open the Jobs tray entry when it completes.
Follow the import in Jobs
Submitting an import closes the dialog and opens the Jobs tray. Use the job entry to follow progress, cancel processing, or select Open after completion. Completion does not automatically open the meeting.
Supported formats
Meetily supports these audio and video formats:
| Format | Extension | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| WAV | .wav | Studio recordings and voice memos |
| MP3 | .mp3 | Common audio recordings |
| MP4 | .mp4 | Video recordings with audio |
| M4A | .m4a | Apple Voice Memos and iTunes audio |
| FLAC | .flac | Lossless audio archives |
| OGG | .ogg | Open-source audio recordings |
| AAC | .aac | Streaming audio and mobile recordings |
| MKV | .mkv | Video containers with meeting recordings |
| WebM | .webm | Browser-based recordings |
| WMA | .wma | Windows Media recordings |
File size limit
The maximum supported file size is 20 GB. Files must be larger than 0 bytes, and Meetily detects their duration from file metadata.
Set up an import
The import dialog opens after you drop a file or select Import Audio. It shows the filename, duration, file size, and format, and suggests a meeting title from the filename. You can edit the title before submitting the job.
Advanced options
Open Advanced Options to choose a configured transcription provider and model. By default, Meetily uses your current transcription configuration.
Parakeet language selection
Parakeet v3 automatically selects a supported language. It does not provide a manual language selector.
Other providers may offer a choice from their supported languages during import.
If no transcription provider is configured, Meetily directs you to Settings so you can set one up before importing.
What happens after you submit
Meetily processes imports as background jobs. More than one import can be submitted, though jobs may be processed serially.
| App state | Import behavior |
|---|---|
| No active work | Starts normally |
| Live recording active | Accepted and queued until recording finishes |
| Recording is finishing its save | Temporarily unavailable |
| Built-in summary generation active | Accepted and queued |
Conceptually, the job copies and decodes the recording, prepares speech for transcription, transcribes it with your selected provider, and saves the resulting meeting. Your source file remains unchanged.
Drag and drop
Find the recording in Finder or File Explorer.
Drag it onto the Meetily window.
Drop the file when the import overlay appears.
Review the import details and submit the job.
Examples
Import a Zoom recording
Drag an .mp4 Zoom recording onto Meetily, name it "Q1 Planning Call," and select Import. Meetily extracts the audio, transcribes the recording, and adds the result to the Jobs tray when it is ready to open.
Import voice memos
Transfer .m4a voice memos from your phone, then drag each file onto Meetily. You can submit multiple recordings; each becomes a separate meeting when its job completes.
Improve an existing import
If an imported recording needs a different transcription provider, use Retranscription on the existing meeting instead of importing the file again.
